• UPDATED: Masajid and Quraa' in Riyadh

Alhamdulilah Riyadh is blessed with some beautiful Masajid and some of my all-time favourite Qur'an reciters!  During the few months I've been here, I've compiled a small but growing list of where some of my favourite and some known Imaams lead salaah.  In the hope that it helps others, I am sharing this list below with my comments insha'Allah:

UPDATE: I've created a quick map with exact location for each Masjid, please scroll to the bottom for this.

UPDATE 2: June 2016 - I've added Google Maps links to each Masjid.  Also, questions about the recency of the Imaams and Masajid, all up-to-date as of June 2016.

UPDATE 3: August 2016 - I've added new masajid.  Also, you can hear many of the reciters listed here on the following post: HERE

    Masjid Rajhi
    Address: Google Coordinates: 24.676999,46.77824 - https://goo.gl/maps/xHQFrMFVuU22

One of the most beautiful Masajid masha'Allah.  This is also where a lot of the funerals in Riyadh take place.

Masjid Nasr - Sheikh Muhammad Luhaidan - CONFIRMED
    Address: Al Andalus, Riyadh 13212 - https://goo.gl/maps/e1kBNZ1MUfT2

Sheikh Luhaidan is one of my all-time fav Qur'an reciters and after missing him many times in UK, I just had to catch him in Riyadh!  The masjid is beautiful and I believe he's usually there for Isha salah.  Sadly the sound system is pretty bad… too much echo but khair, it's not intolerable.  Do visit if you can, you won't regret it :)

Masjid  - Sheikh Yasser Ad-Dosari - CONFIRMED - (Except Ramadan)
Address: Masjid Dakheel, Ushba, Ash Shuhada Riyadh 13241 - https://goo.gl/maps/jrLAq256s2o

One of the closest Masajid to me in this list.  Beautiful masjid and an amazing reciter.  Sheikh Yasser holds a special place in my heart as not only is he one of my fav's, but, he was also a favourite of my dearest beloved brother: Tehseen Khan (RH).  I've been there on a couple of occasions but only managed to catch Sheikh Yasser once at Isha.  I was told he's usually there for Isha.

Masjid Ameera Lateefa - Sheikh Maher Imitator
Address:  Princess Latifa Bint Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Mosque, Sabta, Ar Rahmaniyah Riyadh 12343 - https://goo.gl/maps/Up8U2WohYQG2

This is one of the newer and most beautiful masajid.  Located opposite Al-Habib Takhussasi Hospital, you can't miss the masjid.  From the beautiful exterior to the striking chandelier inside, there is beauty all around this Masjid masha'Allah.  This used to be the masjid of Sheikh Nasser Qattami, he has now moved to the masjid below.  However, he has been replaced by someone who almost perfectly imitates Sheikh Maher al-Mueaqly.  Have a listen:  HERE

King Abdullah Masjid  - Sheikh Nasser Qatami - CONFIRMED
Address: King Abdullah District - https://goo.gl/maps/KMnGcz5Dc8B2

This is a new masjid opened in 2015 in the brand new King Abdullah area of Riyadh.  Sheikh Nasser Qatami was appointed the imaam here in Ramadan.  I visited the masjid recently and was told that even though he's the imaam here, he rarely leads apart from Jummah.  So, if you wanna catch him, head over for Jummah.

Masjid King Khalid - Sheikh Khalid Julayl and Sheikh Mohammad Mohanna - CONFIRMED
Address: King Khalid Grand Mosque, 4289 Umm Al Hamam, Umm Al Hamam Algharbi Riyadh 12326 - https://goo.gl/maps/i21WkCPtzFk

Another beautiful and BIG masjid masha'Allah.  Sheikh Khaled Julayl is/was supposed to be the regular Imaam here but the times I've been, I haven't caught him so not sure if that's still the case. However, I did catch somebody else: Sheikh Mohammad Mohanna!  What a voice masha'Allah :)  I had not heard of the sheikh prior to reading behind him here and subhanAllah you really have to listen to his recitation.  Insha'Allah will soon post some live recordings.

Masjid Sheikh Abdul-Mohsin Al-Muhaisen  - Sheikh Adel Kalbani - CONFIRMED
    Address:  Ishbiliyah, Riyadh 13225 ‎- https://goo.gl/maps/j1END8vbqJ12

Another new and beautiful masjid.  Sheikh Adel Kalbani lead Taraweeh salaah in Masjid Al-Haram back in 2009.

Masjid Al-Hamra - Sheikh Belal Fares
    Address: Al-Hamra, Riyadh - https://goo.gl/maps/W3pe3iLqYDr

Well, this is/was my local Masjid.  Pretty big, has Quran classes, lessons, etc.  The Imaam, whose name I still don't know sadly, has a beautiful voice masha'Allah.  His Fajr recitations are just superb!  They can get pretty emotional.  Worth a visit, especially for Fajr.  He's usually there most week days.

    Sheikh Salman Utaybi - CONFIRMED!
    جامع الشيخ حمدان البلوي
    Google Coordinates: 24.806043851200535,46.764657405326005 - https://goo.gl/maps/cvskghgrZMv

OK, I am super happy to confirm that this is indeed where Sheikh Salman Utaibi leads!  Prayed Maghrib and Isha behind the sheikh.  Also spoke to him for a while.  Genuinely nice guy masha'Allah.

Masjid Mohammad al-Sultan - Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammad al-Ahmed

This is a new masjid I discovered after Ramadan.  I wish I'd discovered it during Ramadan.  The sheikh here has an absolutely amazing voice masha'Allah.  He's very young too.  I highly recommend you visit this masjid.  Have a listen to his recitation: HERE

Masjid Ibrahim Bin Muhammad bin Saeedan - جامع إبراهيم بن محمد بن سعيدان

Many of you may have seen this Masjid a number of times, especially if you travel on the Northern Ringroad often.  It is one of the most beautiful Masajid in Riyadh.  A very nice and serene place just off King Fahd branch road.  The location also means that it is pretty quiet outside of work hours.

Masjid Jawhra bin Taweel - Sheikh: Abdulaziz Al-Asiri

So this one was a recommendation from a couple of people so I decided to go check it out.  The reciter is pretty good masha'Allah.  The Masjid is also really nice.  Worth a visit.

    Masjid Awadh Al-Harbi - Sheikh: Khalid al-Harbi

Sheikh Khalid has a beautiful voice masha'Allah.  He sounds a bit like Sheikh Budair and at times also has a hint of Sheikh Ali Jaber (RH).  Be warned: he's not there often.  You'll most likely catch him at Isha if you do manage to catch him.  A sample of his recitation: HERE

    Masjid Fahd Al-Uwaidah

This is a very popular Masjid in Riyadh.  Many people would have driven past it but never visited it.  It is the famous Masjid next to the palaces.  It's actually pretty nice inside.

    Prince Sultan bin Fahd Masjid
    Address: https://goo.gl/maps/ipc9kwZJ8Tz

OK, this one isn't about the reciter.  If you find yourself missing Masjid an-Nabawi too much, pay this masjid a visit.  The interior is an almost replica of Masjid an-Nabawi :)

Masjid Babtain - Sheikh Hadi Al-Askari

Once upon a time, this used to be another one of my local Masajid.  Really beautiful masjid with an equally beautiful voice as the reciter.  Have a listen: HERE

Sheikh Ibraheem Jibreen - UNCONFIRMED - He was the former imaam here
    مسجد الاميرة العنود بنت عبدالعزيز
    مبنى رقم 3687 شارع محمد المقدمي - حي الغدير ، الرياض 13311 - 7494

Sheikh Ibraheem Al-Jibreen no longer leads in any Masjid due to various commitments.  He usually leads in a Masjid during Ramadan, however, this year, he has not released his timetable.

    King Abdulaziz Masjid
    جامع الملك عبد العزيز

    Google Coordinates: 24.645714, 46.709211 - https://goo.gl/maps/rdR7zeaKiV12

    Riyadh Airport Masjid
    جامع مطار الملك خالد الدولي

    Google Coordinates: 24.958640, 46.701200 - https://goo.gl/maps/19FBsnx5uhJ2

A beautiful masjid located next to the National Museum.

If you're near the airport, check it out.  You can get to it from the second floor of the car park.

      1. W'alaikum Salaam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakattuhu, Apologies, I got really tied down after posting this and haven't had a chance to visit any more masajid. However, I plan on doing so in the next week or two and will confirm insha'Allah. Every masjid I've been to on this list does indeed have women's area so more than likely this one will also. Will confirm insha'Allah. JazakAllah Khair for your comment.

    2. Just curious, in the masajid that Sheikh Luhaydan and Sheikh Dosari lead, how come they only lead 'Isha? Is it because of their schedules? And who leads the other salaah at those masajid? :)

      1. Sheikh Luhaidan is there for Fajr too I'm being told. Sheikh Yasser I'm not too sure but that masjid does have another Imaam too. It is possible they have other commitments. When they are not there, usually it's either the muedhin or a second Imaam who leads.

      2. They have other occupations. Yasser Al-Dosary is a lecturer in King Saud University (if I'm not wrong) He is also the Vice President of the Ayat channel, where Nasser Al-Qatamy is the president. These are just some of their work.

    7. Sheikh Nasser Al-Qatamy leads Fajr and Isha prayers in his new King Abdullah Mosque (amazing, built without a single pillar, exterior and interior just amazing) EVERYDAY!
He didn't lead the prayers for 3-4 months after Ramadan but now you will find him everyday for Isha or Fajr prayers Insha Allah (CONFIRMED).
The Mosque is located on the Urubah Road intersecting with Takhassusi road ( near Sofitel Hotel )
