Sheikh Luhaidan is one of my all-time fav Qur'an reciters and after missing him many times in UK, I just had to catch him in Riyadh! The masjid is beautiful and I believe he's usually there for Isha salah. Sadly the sound system is pretty bad… too much echo but khair, it's not intolerable. Do visit if you can, you won't regret it :)

One of the closest Masajid to me in this list. Beautiful masjid and an amazing reciter. Sheikh Yasser holds a special place in my heart as not only is he one of my fav's, but, he was also a favourite of my dearest beloved brother: Tehseen Khan (RH). I've been there on a couple of occasions but only managed to catch Sheikh Yasser once at Isha. I was told he's usually there for Isha.

This is one of the newer and most beautiful masajid. Located opposite Al-Habib Takhussasi Hospital, you can't miss the masjid. From the beautiful exterior to the striking chandelier inside, there is beauty all around this Masjid masha'Allah. This used to be the masjid of Sheikh Nasser Qattami.. However, he has been replaced by someone who almost perfectly imitates Sheikh Maher al-Mueaqly. Have a listen: HERE
King Abdullah Masjid - Sheikh Abdulaziz Baleelah (Son of Sh. Bandar Baleelah)

This is a new masjid opened in 2015 in the brand new King Abdullah area of Riyadh. Sheikh Nasser Qatami was appointed the imaam here in Ramadan 2017 but has since moved on.

Another beautiful and BIG masjid masha'Allah. Sheikh Khaled Julayl is/was supposed to be the regular Imaam here but the times I've been, I haven't caught him so not sure if that's still the case. However, I did catch somebody else: Sheikh Mohammad Mohanna! What a voice masha'Allah :) I had not heard of the sheikh prior to reading behind him here and subhanAllah you really have to listen to his recitation. Insha'Allah will soon post some live recordings.

Another new and beautiful masjid. Sheikh Adel Kalbani lead Taraweeh salaah in Masjid Al-Haram back in 2009.

Well, this is/was my local Masjid. Pretty big, has Quran classes, lessons, etc. The Imaam, whose name I still don't know sadly, has a beautiful voice masha'Allah. His Fajr recitations are just superb! They can get pretty emotional. Worth a visit, especially for Fajr. He's usually there most week days.
Sheikh Salman Utaybi - CONFIRMED!

OK, I am super happy to confirm that this is indeed where Sheikh Salman Utaibi leads! Prayed Maghrib and Isha behind the sheikh. Also spoke to him for a while. Genuinely nice guy masha'Allah.

Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Ahmad's new Masjid. This is definitely one of the most beautiful Masajid in Riyadh. The sheikh here has an absolutely amazing voice masha'Allah. He's very young too. I highly recommend you visit this masjid. Have a listen to his recitation: HERE

Many of you may have seen this Masjid a number of times, especially if you travel on the Northern Ringroad often. It is one of the most beautiful Masajid in Riyadh. A very nice and serene place just off King Fahd branch road. The location also means that it is pretty quiet outside of work hours.

So this one was a recommendation from a couple of people so I decided to go check it out. The reciter is pretty good masha'Allah. The Masjid is also really nice. Worth a visit.

Sheikh Khalid has a beautiful voice masha'Allah. He sounds a bit like Sheikh Budair and at times also has a hint of Sheikh Ali Jaber (RH). Be warned: he's not there often. You'll most likely catch him at Isha if you do manage to catch him. A sample of his recitation: HERE

This is a very popular Masjid in Riyadh. Many people would have driven past it but never visited it. It is the famous Masjid next to the palaces. It's actually pretty nice inside.

And are women allowed to pray at the masajid in Riyadh? One of my duas is to be able to pray behind him, inshaAllah, thuma inshaAllah! Please answer either way!

However, I plan on doing so in the next week or two and will confirm insha'Allah. Every masjid I've been to on this list does indeed have women's area so more than likely this one will also. DeleteJust curious, in the masajid that Sheikh Luhaydan and Sheikh Dosari lead, how come they only lead 'Isha? Is it because of their schedules? And who leads the other salaah at those masajid? :)
ReplyDeleteSheikh Luhaidan is there for Fajr too I'm being told. Sheikh Yasser I'm not too sure but that masjid does have another Imaam too. It is possible they have other commitments. When they are not there, usually it's either the muedhin or a second Imaam who leads.
DeleteThey have other occupations. Yasser Al-Dosary is a lecturer in King Saud University (if I'm not wrong) He is also the Vice President of the Ayat channel, where Nasser Al-Qatamy is the president. These are just some of their work.

ReplyDeleteHe didn't lead the prayers for 3-4 months after Ramadan but now you will find him everyday for Isha or Fajr prayers Insha Allah (CONFIRMED).
The Mosque is located on the Urubah Road intersecting with Takhassusi road ( near Sofitel Hotel )

ReplyDeleteHe is indeed. Prayed behind him yesterday. Get there early for Taraweeh, it gets really really busy and parking is limited too. There's a women's section too.

At that time, the Quran recitation was sooo beautiful. I never heard that style of recitation before.
