If you fancy a trek, visit Wadi Tayyib Ism. At the opening, you are literally on the coast. A beautiful spot to sit and relax. You really can just sit outside and enjoy the sound of the waves and the feeling of fresh breeze hitting your face.
Then, you can drive in-between two mountains, park up and begin your trek. The trek itself can be never ending and we were told that if you carried on walking, you may end up at Jabl Lawz. On the way, you’ll see trees, running water in certain spots and some nice birds. It’s worth a visit if you enjoy walking.
What’s funny, is along the trek you’ll encounter people coming back and because we humans are curious, we tend to ask them how much longer the trek is and what lies ahead. The answers will range from: “Another 10 minutes” to: “Another 30 minutes or so habibi” to: “There is lots of water ahead” to: “I don’t know, I walked for an hour and it’s all just like this”. So I can only conclude that you have to love walking to see the beautiful sights some people describe up ahead.
In any case, the first time we visited, we turned back after 30 minutes. The second time, we lasted 15 minutes longer but then gave up. But, we did see people coming back with big bottles they had filled with this supposed mythical source of water so there is hope for next time.
Whatever you do, go well before sunset and make sure you take lots of water with you. If you enjoy walking then this is the spot for you, if not, just enjoy the coast outside.
