The Ha’ir Lakes Park is a park about 25KM outside Riyadh. It is the 5th zone of Wadi Hanifah. The park itself is still being developed and you’ll see construction work taking place right from the entrance. There are grand plans for this place some of which you’ll find online.
Currently, there are a number of viewing areas from hills above the lake area which give you a great idea of the scale and a beautiful view of the lake underneath. There is a visitors’ centre but when we went it looked empty. A number of washrooms are also scattered around near the lakes and at the top. We saw some picnic spots/areas at the top as well but cannot confirm whether there were spots for BBQ as it was too hot to explore unfortunately.
For those of you who have been to Wadi Hanifah or Wadi Namr you’ll notice similarities between the signs and lighting, another indication of the uniformity and link to Wadi Hanifah.
So, is it worth visiting? Yes. The lakes are beautiful and you can easily spend hours walking there or sitting near them with your family. There are currently two mini ‘waterfalls’, I say that as loosely as possible, they are more of water falling down a large step at high speed, but, a beautiful sight nonetheless.
Although there are fish in the lake, do not be tempted to bring your fishing or swimming gear as both are prohibited and there is plenty of security around.
I would advise you to visit early morning or late evening during summer to avoid the heat. And please, remember to throw your rubbish in the bins provided :)
